3. Metavision – training in group skills
and leadership
Each workshop is 2 days Sat - Sun
This workshop has 3 phases. Each one can be taken individually
or together.
Workshop phase 1:The metaskills of Metavision
Workshop
phase 2: Leadership for Metavision
Workshop phase 3: Metavision for sustainable practice and community
building.
Metavision applies a holistic paradigm to working
with people in a range of settings. It could be said to be a combination
of supervision, coaching and leadership.
It combines the intelligence
of the heart, the mindfulness of Eastern philosophy, the field
theory of Quantum physics and the interpersonal skills of counselling
psychology to provide a broad and fluid approach to working with
individuals and groups.
A Holistic paradigm sees the essence of
a person as spiritual with innate intention and wisdom. An opportunity
to unfold the innate intention presents itself when difficulties,
tensions and obstructions occur in a person’s life. This
teleological metaskill of purposeful direction requires of a practitioner
the ability to take many different roles when working with people.
The roles range from coach to mentor to supervisor to leader or
wise elder depending on the need and situation. This requires fluidity
and a capacity to hold a situation with empathic, interested, open
presence while listening to the stories that point the way forward.
Workshop
1 The metaskills of Metavision (2 days Sat-Sun)
In this workshop you will be introduced to the distinguishing
attitudes and approach that underpin Metavision.
You will be introduced to:
- Group theory including field theory,
roles and world work and deep democracy developed by Arnold Mindell,
Max Schupbach and associates of Process Oriented Psychology.
- The
use of heuristic processes. As the ability to reflect on oneself
grows solutions change and growth follow. Self empowerment increases
with self awareness
- Facilitation skills, including sorting issues
and reading feedback.
- Experience of Metavision in small groups.
Workshop 2 Leadership
for Metavision (2 days Sat-Sun)
In this workshop the focus is on the qualities and development
of leadership while continuing to explore the wide variety of applications
for the Metavision model of facilitation.
You will cover:
- Leadership as a role that moves and is fluid
- Inner
work for leadership
- Recognising hot spots, ghost figures, and
time spirits
- An introduction to deep democracy and cross
cultural awareness
- The dynamics of power and groups. In most
situations issues of rank and power work as an unseen force with
strong effect both positively and negatively. Metavision brings
both awareness and effective ways of addressing issues of rank
and power.
- Use of Metavision as a model for small group
supervision/professional development.
Workshop 3 Metavision for Sustainable Practice
and community building (2 days Sat-Sun)
Based on holistic and process oriented
principles, Metavision is highly adaptable to most environments
from corporations to hospitals, to indigenous communities to
individuals. Its application may appear very different in each
situation as the facilitator’s praxis
adapts to the context within its unique environment. As awareness
of one’s self, ones needs and ones reactions to situations
grow, working life becomes more sustainable. This is particularly
important in the helping professions where burn out is not uncommon.
In this workshop you will cover:
- Issues of abuse
and how this may impact the work of Metavision
- Ethics and boundary
issues in different setting
- Working with conflict
- Metavision in a range
of different settings
- Experiential practice in groups.
At the conclusion of all three workshops you will be more equipped
to facilitate individuals, small and larger groups in a wide range
of settings.
